    Bronco Sports Properties Give Field Board Signage a Creative Treatment

    In the college athletics space, it's always refreshing to see properties creatively customize standard pieces of inventory to deliver extra value for corporate partners.

    Bronco Sports Properties recently helped the Idaho Potato Commission generate incremental value and exposure from their title sponsorship of the Boise State vs. TCU game by featuring an unconventional piece of signage in each of the endzones of its stadium.

    Kenny Keblaitis and the Bronco Sports Properties team generated buzz by placing a 5' x 3' sign resembling a giant sack of potatoes between two branded field boards in each of the stadium's TV visible endzones. The brilliant awareness tactic spanned 19' in total length and served as a great way to complement the Idaho Potato Commission's other branding tactics taking place in-stadium.

    Iowa Athletics Turns to a Card Stunt to Promote ANF Day Celebration

    The University of Iowa Athletics Department recently teamed up with the Iowa Farm Bureau to pull off a spectacular stadium card stunt display in celebration of America Needs Farmers (ANF) Day at Kinnick Stadium.

    Prior to kickoff of a recent Iowa-Northwestern football game, four grandstands of Hawkeyes fans at Kinnick Stadium held up cards on cue to deliver some impactful messages to 70,000 fans inside the stadium and a national television audience on Big Ten Network.

    The impressive stadium card stunt display served as an effective way to drive awareness for the America Needs Farmers movement nationwide and creatively unite a stadium full of football fans. The University of Iowa Athletics Department captured the action on several cameras, including one on a time lapse setting that provides a remarkable viewpoint of the activation.

    Allstate and ESPN Team Up to Feature Digital Field Goal Net Branding

    Phil Primato of BeyondtheHashes.com recently captured a terrific video that showcases how ESPN is now superimposing the Allstate logo on field goal nets during their telecasts of college football games.

    While digital inventory has become standard in baseball, hockey, and other professional sports telecasts, it will be interesting to see this inventory continue to mature in the college space.

    The 2011 NHL Heritage Classic - From a Fan's Perspective

    The National Hockey League recently treated fans to an incredible experience at the 2011 Heritage Classic. The outdoor hockey game, hosted at McMahon Stadium in Calgary, Alberta was a huge success - attracting 41,000+ fans and a plethora of Official Partners with extensive activation displays on-site.

    Enclosed below is a terrific video that highlights the fan experience at the 2011 NHL Heritage Classic. As depicted in the video, fans enjoyed a complete hockey experience that included shooting competitions, youth hockey, street teams, beer gardens, giant inflatables, pre-game flyovers and fireworks, and music and entertainment.

    Carlton Tests the Skills of Fans with Massive Magnatron Display

    Carlton Draught created a huge splash around the AFL Grand Final in September 2010 by erecting an enormous Magnatron game that offered fourteen (14) lucky contestants a chance to win $100,00 worth of prizes. Carlton created a replica of the game, which consumers commonly play in bars using mini-cranes to pick up plush toys and other small prizes, that stood a massive 10 stories high at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

    Carlton provided the (14) select contestants with a chance to operate a 30m crane with a 750kg magnet attached to try to pick up a variety of prizes, including a Toyota HiLux vehicle, a 10-year AFL Grand Final hospitality package, and $5,000 cash from a Carlton Draught ATM. Contestants were tasked with positioning the Magnatron over a prize they desired, lining up the magnet, and aiming to ensure that they successfully clasped a valuable item.

    Consumers could enter for the chance to be (1) of (14) select participants by participating in an on-pack and/or on-air promotion that Carlton executed in the marketplace.
